Essay Topic:
What is “American Literature”?
Answer the following question and include:
- A strong thesis: what point to you want to prove?
- At least 5 paragraphs and 800 words.
- Supportive Evidence: at least 1 citation from The Crucible
- Examples from TWO other NOVELS we read this year (you do not need citations because you don’t have the book, but you DO need to make specific references and make supportive connections.
- An introduction with a hook, thesis and topic
- Body paragraph begin with a strong topic sentence that is a supportive claim for your thesis. Supportive evidence is used to back up this claim. Connect this evidence to the claim and to the thesis.
- A conclusion that sums up your arguments and gives a “so what”
- A works cited page (not included in your word count so careful)
- Appropriate vocabulary and grammar
